At the Duck location after you get your treats you can sit on benches overlooking the sound. At the Kitty Hawk location you can watch them being made with a little bench for the young ones to be able to see.

They make every donut to order so you may want to order ahead. My first time there I had to wait in a line that was out the door. It obviously is well known to those who have tried it. Watch donuts being made. Eat them while they're hot. Reviewed April 10, 2012 NEW We certainly were not the first to arrive at Duck Donuts that Monday morning. At the Duck location there was a line of people out the door. The operation is so efficient we ordered and had our hot donuts very quickly. When we opened the box it seemed hard to find the particular one I had ordered. In the seconds it took me to realize we had the wrong dozen, the children had started eating. We all sat in the warm morning sun eating and watching the waters of the sound lap at the deck.The donuts are cake donuts and delicious with a variety of frosting flavors and sprinkles,peanuts, even bacon. I did reorder the 3 donuts requested by the couple who stayed in the house and explained the whole situation to the cashier. I hope the family who got our order enjoyed ours as much as we enjoyed theirs.
